Motions:
RESOLUTION FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTION 107(2) OF THE REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLE ACT CAP. 286A
WHEREAS it is provided by section 107 (1) of the Representation of the People Act Cap. 286A (hereinafter referred to as “the Act”) that the Governor-General may make regulations generally for giving effect to the provisions of the Act;
WHEREAS section 107 (1) (c) provides that the Governor-General may make regulations prescribing the symbols to be used on every ballot paper, and the mode of allocation of such symbols to candidates;
WHEREAS section 107 (2) provides that regulations made under the Act is subject to affirmative resolution;
WHEREAS regulations have been made to insert a new symbol to be used on ballot papers under the Representation of the People (Election Symbols) Regulations Cap. 286A;
AND WHEREAS it is now expedient that the Representation of the People (Election Symbols) (Amendment) Regulations, 2022 attached hereto as a Schedule be approved by the House of Representatives;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant to section 107 (2) of the Act, the Representation of the People (Election Symbols) (Amendment) Regulations, 2022 be now approved.
SCHEDULE
RESOLUTION FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTION 4 (3) OF THE QUARANTINE ACT, CHAPTER 271
WHEREAS it is provided by section 4 (1) of the Quarantine Act, Chapter 271 (hereinafter referred to as “the Act”) that the Minister may make regulations, as respects the whole or any part of Grenada, including the ports and coastal waters thereof, for preventing—
AND WHEREAS it is provided in section 4 (3) of the Act that regulations made under section 4 (1) of the Act shall not have any force or effect until confirmed by resolution of the House of Representatives;
AND WHEREAS on the 23rd day of November 2021 the Minister with responsibility for Health made the Quarantine (COVID-19) Regulations, 2021 and on the 30th day of November 2021 the House of Representatives by resolution confirmed the Quarantine (COVID-19) Regulations, 2021;
AND WHEREAS the public health situation in Grenada in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic has stabilised and on the 4th day of April 2022 the Governor-General has revoked the declaration of the emergency proclaimed on the 11th day of January 2021, it is now expedient that the Quarantine (COVID-19) (Repeal) Regulations, 2022 attached hereto as a Schedule be confirmed by the House of Representatives to repeal the Quarantine (COVID-19) Regulations, 2021;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant to the provisions of section 4 (3) of the Act that the Quarantine (COVID-19) (Repeal) Regulations, 2022 be now confirmed by the House of Representatives.
